Upcoming public holidays

Each country's list is generated from the rules in its official source (fixed dates, "first Monday in May" rules, and Easter-based dates computed with the Gregorian Easter algorithm), and checked against the published calendars. Sources are linked on each country page.

We list holidays that apply across the whole country (or federally). Many holidays are regional: US state holidays, Scottish bank holidays, Canadian provincial days, German Land holidays. Check your local government for those.

When a holiday falls on a weekend, some countries give a substitute weekday off, called the observed date. The US moves Saturday holidays to Friday and Sunday holidays to Monday; the UK uses the next free weekday.
